How we collect, use and protect your personal information · Last updated 30 August 2026

This policy explains how The National Drainage Company ("we", "us", "our") collects and uses your personal information when you contact us or use this website, and the rights you have under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

1. Who we are

The National Drainage Company is the data controller responsible for your personal data. Company registration number 17291611, registered office 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ. You can contact us about privacy at info@thenationaldrainagecompany.com.

2. The information we collect

When you complete our callback form we collect your name, phone number, postcode, the service you need and a note of which page you enquired from. If you call or email us, we collect the details you choose to give us so we can help with your enquiry. When you use the site, our hosting provider automatically records limited technical data such as your IP address and browser type for security and to keep the site running.

3. How we use your information, and our lawful basis

We use your details to respond to your enquiry, arrange and carry out drainage work, keep records of the jobs we do, and — where relevant — to meet our legal and accounting obligations. Our lawful bases are: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract and performing that contract; our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and running our business; and, where required, complying with a legal obligation. We do not use your details for automated decision-making, and we do not sell your data to anyone.

4. Cookies and third-party content

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it; it sets cookies and receives your IP address, and it runs only after you accept cookies via our cookie banner. Pages that show a map embed Google Maps, which may set its own cookies to display the map — these also load only after you accept. Both are governed by Google's own privacy policy. You can decline non-essential cookies at any time using the banner.

5. Who we share your information with

We share your data only where necessary: with the service providers who run this website and handle form submissions (for example our website host and form provider) and our email provider, all of whom process it on our behalf under appropriate agreements; and with professional advisers, or law enforcement and regulators, where we are legally required to do so. We never sell or rent your personal data.

6. How long we keep it

We keep enquiry details only for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards, and customer and job records for as long as required for accounting, tax and legal purposes (generally up to six years). After that we securely delete or anonymise them.

7. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask us for a copy of your data, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have your data erased, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable format, in each case subject to certain conditions. To exercise any of these rights, email info@thenationaldrainagecompany.com and we will respond within one month.

8. Keeping your data secure

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. This site is served securely over HTTPS.

9. Children

This website and our services are aimed at adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always the one published on this page, with the date it was last updated shown at the top.

11. How to contact us or complain

If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, contact us at info@thenationaldrainagecompany.com or by post at the registered office above. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113 — though we'd be grateful for the chance to resolve any concern first.
